A local LM

M.D. MillerSep 30, 2026

I know a lot of people who don't like AI and use phrases like "AI slop." And while I get it and agree to some extent, I think they are missing the potential AI has if done correctly.

At the core of every AI bot there is a Large Language Model (LLM) it's the data or core that feeds the bot. It is hard for the average user to isolate that LLM and tweak it to fit them 100%, but I feel that everyone needs one.

I believe building your own language model is the way to go. That way, you can control what it an AI bot uses. It can even learn you and your style because you can teach it and keep it from adding other influences.

Now granted, creating your own LM would be a painstaking task for most, but It would be worth it for some one like a digital artist or a writer who needs a reference of their own work. I would much rather that than someone letting AI write a paragraph and seeing something along the lines of "That is not control, It is authority."

I really believe that AI can be for everyone, especially if we build it locally.
